Field Trips

Spending the day at the grocery store, Costco, or a Farmers' Market can open up the possibilities for what can be made at home.

Inspiration for what to cook at home can come to us by strolling through a local grocery store, Costco, or Farmers Market - all of these places can also be intimidating. Let's take a field trip, talk about the foods that look and sound good to you, or that you want to learn how to cook for you and/or your family.

The field trip will be designed around what you desire to learn; if there are specific markets, farms, or stores you would like to experience together, we can do it!

Each field trip can be unique to your needs, and can be done one-on-one or with a group.

Example:

  • Meet at 9am at the desired location.

  • Walk through the store / market / farm and discuss the foods; how they arrived (understanding the journey is important watch C. Ramsdell's 2018 TedTalk on:Taking back cooking: A delicious climate change solution [Video]) and how foods can be prepared.

  • Discuss preparation of items (as needed/desired).

  • Plan for a half day together, including drive time.
